TOP LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
Texas should set a national example by rapidly and broadly encouraging Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), which will help save and expand energy jobs — critical to our economy — while protecting our environment and responding to market and regulatory demand.
Other states are jumping ahead of Texas in the competition for energy expansion by supporting carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). By encouraging innovation and CCUS investment, the Lone Star State can continue to be the nation’s energy leader.
TERP Funding: HB 1158
HB 1158 filed by Rep. Darby will designate carbon capture ventures as “advanced clean energy projects” making them eligible for TERP grant programs.
TWPD Carbon Sequestration: HB 4018
HB 4018, authored by Rep. Trent Ashby will allow Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) to enter into agreements with private entities for the purposes of carbon sequestration. By creating the marketplace for TPWD, government entities, and private partners to have the ability to provide carbon credits, we can ensure Texas continues to lead in energy innovation and remains a global energy powerhouse.
